Tanjore Big Temple Documentary
I’ve been looking for this a long long time. The first time I saw this documentary was couple of years back on Discovery channel(or was it NGC). Since then I have been looking for this and finally found it at Google Video. One of the pleasures of browsing the net at wee hours of morning, like 3:56 am on a saturday.
This documentary, The Lost Temples of India, talks about Raja Raja Chola and how he built the Tanjore Big Temple. Running for over 52 minutes, this is pure treasure, especially if you love the temples and their architectures. There is a lengthy dramatization on how they would have moved the 80 ton single stone to the top of the gopuram. Those 360 degree helicopter shots of Tanjore Gopuram explain in detail the class of architecture used. Just amazing.
I’m positive that it would be worth the time spent.

தடங்கலுக்கு வருந்துகிறோம் !!
As I ponder over life’s important questions, also trying to answer some of them, you might want to watch Pudhupettai or gulp a davara full of suda suda coffee.
I hate such hyped posts before taking a hiatus. Something that’s not my natural self. Still. It might be over a week or two before I bounce back with the usual enthusiasm. Or maybe more. Or may be much lesser. Who knows where these questions might lead me to ?

Anderson Cooper
I wasn’t a big fan of Anderson Cooper, until last week. One would have started to notice him just before Katrina. That’s when Aaron Brown’s prime time on CNN was taken back and allocated to Anderson’s 360 show. His Katrina reporting was talked about. I felt, he made animated movements trying to exaggerate the situation.
Last week, browsing through the cable, I came across Oprah show where Anderson was the guest. Coming from the royal family of Vanderbilt, Anderson Cooper had taken challenging journalist pursuits in Kenya and Myanmar. It was astonishing, given the fact that he was barely out of his teens when did such expeditions.
As he puts it, there is nothing wrong if a reporter feels emotionally about the news. One needs to be objective about the news but one can certainly feel the news that is being reported. That was a fair statement which explains his animated movements and unique intonations while reporting tragic events. What made the show was the quote, Hope is not a plan. Don’t hope for something. Plan for it. Makes sense.
