    The bigscreen spider Is that

    The bigscreen spider
Is that true?. It is unbelievable. Columbia’s action-adventure sci-fi fantasy Spider-Man leaped into first place with an unprecedented ESTIMATED $114.0 million at 3,615 theaters and 7,500-plus screens ($31,535 per theater). OOPS !!! That big money and it has broken all the Box Office Records before. I couldn’t wait anymore for 24th May whem it opens up in indian theatres.

The Producers said “It’s the biggest opening weekend–either three or four days. It’s the biggest single day, which was our Saturday, which we’re estimating at $43.7 million. It’s the biggest single day by over $10 million, beating Harry Potter’s Saturday of $33.5 million. It’s the fastest to $100 million in three days (beating the five days it took Harry Potter). It’s the highest per screen average in 3,000 prints or more with $31,535.”

    Maddy in the run :

    Maddy in the run :
You remember watching Sea Hawks in DD2 those days when satellite channels had just begun to engulf mainstream entertainment. It was he who made people watch the serial without blinking. Then he made tamil girls drool over with his powerful looks and versatile acting in Maniratnam’s Alai Payuthey. This is movie now being remade in hindi as Saathiya *ing Vivek Oberoi. After 2 years of the release of his debut film in tamil, maddy is still drool-over in tamil nadu. His Minnale (RHTDM in hindi) was a super dupper hit and his next film with mani’s Kannathil Muthamittal added credits to his acting skills.

Now Madhavan is signed up for a thriller movie called Run and also his next movie Anbe Sivam ( Shiva is Love) with Kamalhassan. Maybe we are yet to witness the pinnacle of Maddy’s acting. Heard that he is also performing as a rowdy rowdy piper role in a hindi movie for which he has sported a french beard. I told you know…Maddy is in the run.

    Last night I watched Black

Last night I watched Black Hawk Down, the oscar nominated movie. This was a true story about a ground battle involving the american army soldiers. In 1993, the american army wanted to abduct 2 lieutinants of the somalian warlord Farah Aidid and they intruded into a small village called Mogadishu. The US army’s intial plans gets interuppted when two of the black hawk helicopters are shot down. The time moves on and it takes more than 15 hours to complete the operation.

The movie is potrayed with an eye for detail. The war photography is too good that we feel like witnessing the war in the streets of Mogadishu. The camera and the sets make the movie seem true. This has a very less storyline than other war movies. It is war commentary and there is no analysis on the war or its after effects which makes it as a movie of rare genre. Ridley Scott dispassionate approach towarads the movie makes it an interesting see. His approach has a classy touch. He shows war as war rather than taking a emotional dimension which leaves it for the viewer to decide his idea on war.

A pretty ok movie for a dull night!!!

    Untitled Codelust’s link on god

    Untitled

Codelust’s link on god blogging made me think a lot. good one .

Ian McEwan amazes me with his absorbing insight into people’s minds. My boss recommends me to read McEwan’s best book The child in time.Thats my next catch.

Sujatha – one of the best writers in contemporary tamil literature is signed up for a movie with K.Balachander to write the dialogues. He was paid close to 10 lakhs for film. This is a promising news for writers in tamil film scenario. His latest films Mudhalvan and Kannathil Muthamittal earned him this fame. As a matter of fact, Roja was his story which was earlier published as a novel named as ’14 days’ in tamil. I need pages to write about sujatha’s writing style. If you need to get an hang on his writing, just ready his book called guruprasadin kadaisi thinam ( the last day of guru prasad).
