I love Milk Bikis. Yeah, It sounds like a naive statement but I love eating Milk Bikis. Ask my family and they would sing my childhood adventures with Milk Bikis.
This post isn’t a Milk Bikis reminiscent. This is a much serious(!!) observation that I had over a period of time. Has anyone noted this or is it just me. I find South Indians going crazy over Brittania’s Milk Bikis while the northies love Parle-G. Donno if it’s just due to the logistics issue of the goods or has it something got to do with the taste.
Not that I don’t like Parle-G. Its actually tastier than Milk Bikis when I don’t get to eat Milk Bikis. Sitting in Seattle, the only option is to eat the mini Parle-G [sold 4 packs/dollar].
And yeah I love biscuits. The critics of this blog [who term this as the Worst Popular Indian Blog] can now go and call this as the Blog of a Koyindey Payyan. Infact I should be thankful for that written word for after all namma ellam etcetera thaaney, maamu !!.

I don’t mind being called one either but I definitely need my biscuit to go with my coffee and adhuvum dipped style (thoichchundu saappidanum :-)). The precursor to Milk Bikis used to be Glaxo Biscuits and the words on the package came in a single style single color lettering (greenish blue). As you say my initial options here were to go for Parle-G (which I agree with you tastes better) but I have found better options over the last two to three years and these are the Cashew Biscuits that come from Indian Outfits in Canada and they taste heavenly. If you want to know the particular brand I am talking about, it is Crispy Twi Foods. Give it a go and let me know 🙂

Oh Parle-G.. During that little stint at Seattle, I used to buy dozens of packs every week from Mayuri.. and gobble them like god-knows-what… 🙂

Your post brought back my own biscuit memories. My favorite was Marie Biscuit (before all this Marie Gold etc.), although it does not have much taste.

Hi LG,
I wish to just hug you for being the similar to me as milk bikis lover. When I get a smal or big pack, i don’t know how many goes in. Just hand move and mouth work 🙂
Yeah, Parle-G I too have the same here & enquired the Indian stores for Milk bikis. They said this is one of the good brand. As you said these Indian stores owners are mostly from northern part of India.

Dang, I was surprised when my visitor count went up significantly today and even more suprised that a comment from another lifetime is responsible for the increase. But I’ll take what I get 🙂
By the way, I know it doesn’t matter now, but I wasn’t being condescending. I was cribbing about the writing, not the substance – so it is very unlikely I’ll pick on your love of biscuits or whatever to call you names.

Is parle G really tastier than milk bikis?! never knew that.. have never bothered to check out any non-Britannia biscuit at all… I too love Milk bikis, and the good old marie also:)

I personally like Parle-G, Milk bikis is a little sweeter for my taste. Not to forget fifty fifty and its predecessor Krack-Jack, my favorite of all cookies.
It has won 11 Golds, 3 Silvers and 1 Bronze award at the ‘Monde Selection’. no idea what ‘Monde Selection’ is 🙂 More about Krack-Jack including the secret ingredients here

As for the “worst popular indian blog” critics, I wouldnt pay too much attention to them. One small prize you pay for the popularity of this site, comes with the territory 🙂
and naarsi i hear ya man, butter biscuit rocks 🙂

Chenthil, Nejama I wasn’t upset. Neither I was letting the gas out. Infact you should be patting me for mentioning it on my blog. I accept that there are spell mistakes and grammar errors on this blog. But I was trying to say that he should be also knowing that blogs are prone to spell mistakes. thats something every blogger/reader should come to terms with. but they aren’t made intentionally. if you accept blogging as spontaneous reaction to several things, spell an grammar issues are prone to creep in. And yeah, I do enjoy Karthik’s blog.

Hey Karthik, I know you weren’t condescending. I wasn’t even trying to pick a bone with you. I came across this recently and was surprised that it was a comment from you. As you read the previous comment, I do agree that there are some spell issues but then, there weren’t intentional.

Hellboy, Yes. Milk Bikis is more sweeter than Parle-G. But the point, what I don’t get is that how is Parle-G a big hit in north india while th south indians love the milk bikis. its starting to sound like a good P.Hd subject !!

Hmm… I used to eat tiger or parle-g biscuits for breakfast/dinner to save money, during my college days. I agree that Parle-G was better alternative to breakfast than milk bikies or tiger.

Hmm… This is my personal opinion, and it is okay if you want to differ, but to me, spelling and grammar errors take a lot of fun out of reading. Especially if you have a large audience, I think a blogger should take a little bit of extra time to scrub what he has written.
But then, your audience doesn’t seem to mind much, so I guess it is just me. And thanks for being diplomatic about the whole thing.

keerthivasan, yeah, pusti was just great. It would stand its own against even the great milk bikis. They even had a smart marketing strategy to begin with – exhange 3 0r 4 old wrappers for a new pack. And we used to collect religiously. It disappeared soon from the market though. Dont know why. It WAS quite popular notwithstanding the cheap scheme. It had a second coming which wasnt that memorable though

I do not remember even a single morning of my childhood (till completing College that is.. LOL) without a biscuit taking a dip in my Bournvita (till I was allowed to drink Coffee) or Coffee. My all time favourite was Milk Bikis but then during different times it used to change. For instance when my dad started building a house, Milk Bikis was changed to Marie – I think you get a bigger pack for the same price. And ofcourse Pushti was there for around 6 months or so…. During my college days I started preferring Krack-Jack. But has anyone tried Good-Day with Coffee ? Even now in a meeting if they serve Coffee and Good Day, I do not think twice before dipping the Good Day in the coffee. I am not sure whether I am crossing the line as far as food etiquette is concerned when I try to “dip” the biscuit. But I do not give a damn…

Karthik, Agree. Donno when you saw that so much spell mistakes but a occasional spell mistake actually adds some fun, ensuring that there is an actual person behind the blog.
But I agree if the mistakes are in multitude, it certainly affects the reading interest.
