LMAO !!

In the case of new films, the ban would be subject only to some rare situations such as the treatment of historical personalities known to smoke, and period films. Also, it would be allowed as part of social messaging against smoking itself. As for old films, due to technical difficulties, it was agreed that instead of a prominent scroll containing a health warning accompanying smoking/tobacco-using scenes, theatre owners would have to show warning slides.

What else to say of this. I remember a short story which a friend of mine shouted over my shoulder while biking on GST. A greedy disciple wants a boon from his guru while leaving for his hometown, after schooling. The guru understanding the covetousness of his disciple, plans to whack him smoothly. As the disciple asks,” I need a magical power that would give me whatever, when I think of it”. The guru says,” Given. But whenever you are using the power, you shouldn’t think of a monkey”. The disciple thinks,” I need a ton of gold and yeah !! I am not going to think of a monkey”. Whacked !!

Similarly during a smoking scene in the movie, if they are showing the scroll, Cigarette smoking is injurious to health, our friend would get reminded of the single cigarette left in his pocket an walk out of the movie hall, to smoke. Aren’t you LYAO ??

The ban by itself is an ROTFL material and I don’t even want to talk about that. I don’t know why these guys are after cinema and curbing the art. Pure, fresh BS..
And Lazy, the monkey reference was distinctively similar to Kamal’s multiple references to monkeys in his movies, of late!

I am not trying to add insult to injury, but does that also mean producers and directors cannot add those “smoke break songs” anymore ? You all know what I am talking about. There is a song strategically placed ever 15 minutes that has nothing to do with the story, as soon as the song starts, people walk out, smoke and come back.

If they want to make any sense, they should ban such songs too…What say ?

🙂 do you mean to say that the hero on the screen whom this guy idolizes to the point of talking the same way and wearing similar clothes would influence the person any less than the warning at the bottom of the screen? Get real.

Not that I support that ban entirely… but I feel it is a good start. The same could be extended to drinking, raping and general stupidity on screen… “Being stupid like this guy is injurious to mind and body”…

Stopping smoking on screen is not going to stop everyone from smoking. If they don’t see it on screen there are lots of smokers off screen to see. We can’t hang a ‘Smoking is injurious to health on every one of them’

Anniyan is taking on the theatres, couldn’t get the tickets.

Why dont they ban politicians who smoke ?? They are supposed to be in public eye all the time right?? We dont pay taxes for them to import cigars and die early so that again elections can be held ( which again needs our money!) 🙂 🙂 I know you and i dont watch politicians as much as movies but think of the “common-man” ( in diplomatic parlance this refers to all people who take up smoking on seeing filmstars smoke ) who literally “idolizes” (!!) our great leaders who carry the torch of this great nation! All this smoke for nothing! Damn!
