For that reason, any mobile music instrument that pops music only to your ears is dodgy. On a rather dull day, in the middle of a morning bus journey, when you listen to Illayaraja on discman, especially during a very enjoyable song like Andhi Mazhai[Raaja Paarvai], you might loose track of what’s happening around you. Ecstatic. That very moment, you get a sudden irresistible urge to get up from your seats and just shout that song with arms wide open. Man, It would have been out of senses today, to do that.

    BTW yesday in Raj TV, they were showing the felicitation program for K Balachandar.

    Many people including Rajni, Kamal, Sivakumar, Kavignar vaali and all were there. But SPB stole the show.

    He sung one stanza from almost all the movies he has worked for KB. Songs like keladi kanmani,enna saththam indha neram, kamban emandhan, vannam konda vennilave, mannil indha kaadhalindri, kaadhal rojave, vaan nila nila alla and some more. And he ended with ‘tere meere beech mein kaisa hai bandhan’. Aaaha kavidhai kavidhai. Abirami abirami!!!
    If you had been here, you would have enjoyed that for sure boss!

    “Kodaikalae katre, ini thendral paadum paatae ” is from Paneer Pushpangal.
    Sung By Malaysia Vasudevan. I’ll say that it is one of his best (atleast among his top 5) songs. Definitely one of the very few touching songs sung by MV, “Thenkizhakku Seemaiyila…’ being another one.

    Dear prabhu..u gotta watch daredevil for that explanation..there is a very good scene where ben affleck(blind super hero) asks jennifer garnet(super sexy super heroine) to stand in the rain so he can visualise her looks by listening to the rain drops on her making some internal mumbo jumbo audio coordinate mapping and finally the viewer gets to see jen thro ben’s eye..i think thats what that poet was trying to say.. I guess..whatever the case ..i think its brilliant potrayl..i wonder if the blind people have such brilliant perception..

  17. Yep!! Now I switched to iPod…its really cool! Esp. in the nights to get sleep, can keep on switching songs to suit the mood.
    Probably next “cool stuff” would be MP3 on cell phone! Wud help a lot in India while standing in the long Queue (esp. at rail tkt counter) 🙂

Dear Guru:I am not sure whether a walk-man or disc-man is so very dangerous but sure is embarassing.I used to love the gadget because I could enjoy the music whether film,light, carnatic or gazal without disturbing others.But once on my way to Trichy in Pallavan I was hearing Bala Mural’s “Thanga Radham Vandadu” in the walk-man that I did not notice the T.T.E asking for my ticket.My neighbour virtually shook me up.I apolagised for my indifferance.
    “Andhi mazhai pozhigirathu ovvoru thuliyilum un mugam therigirathu” is a beautiful mood song
    The songs suggested by Sapphani are quite good especially”AgAya gangai””Raathiriyil poothirukkum thAmarai thAn penno” etc

  20. i lost that document but i once wrote an article titled “Ennai Marandhu Vitten” (an obvious reference to the “Kannalaney” song) where i listed the songs that captured my imagination just by the virtue of meaningful lines…i’ll reel off a few (BY NO MEANS, IS IT A COMPREHENSIVE LIST) titles– satham ilaatha thanimai kaetten, poongaatru thirumbuma, mounathil vilaiyaadum manasaakshiye, kanaa kaanum kangall mella, malarndhu malaraadha, kalaivaaniye, nee paathi naan paathi kanney, kaadhal rojave, nalam vaazha, elorum sollum paatu…the list goes on…
