You’re right. It’s that same Abirami who did a great role as Annalakshmi in Virumandi. With the kind of rave reviews she got with the media, one would assume that she would mint millions in the years to come. But what happened was very common to kollywood. Guess ?
Apart from the reviews it was a lifetime role for her. She did an amazing job competing in the acting dept with Kamalhassan in Virumandi. A rare thing these heroines do with Kamal. Exceptions include SriDevi, Oorvasi and few others. Since then, she hasn’t been seen in any of the so-called BIG movies. Worse, not even in the small movies. I think she has completely forgotten how to drive to AVM studios. The last she was seen was on the Vijay TV’s Starudan Oru Naal show. One more. Remember PithaMahan. Sangeetha did play a decent part there. Result, nothing. I believe she hasn’t had a movie since then.
Kollywood has a flamboyant history of dumping down the talented. After a good film, either these talented don’t show away or they get stuck in a primetime tele serial. With the fate of the talented being this in kollywood, the news reports say, that Rajini’s Chandramukhi might have Simran /Jothika. You know what would be a better bet.

I guess its better to wait for the right roles to come then to do some average roles.I m sure they wud hav got some offers.They have taken the right decision to refuse them.After all patience is an essential attribute of winners.I m sure we will see more of them in near future and that too in good solid roles.ATB to them.

The kinda films being churned out now, jus dont require the heroine to “act”. The most basic qualifications are drool-worthiness and dancing ability (but if paired w/ heroes w/ 2 left feet like our Captain, adhu kooda vendaam.. Camera-ve aadum!) 🙂
The talented lot hafta wait for the next Mani Ratnam, or Kamal, or KB film.
And after all those reviews they earn, I dont think they themselves would wanna act in senseless films and commit career-harakiri.

I am unable to figure out what you mean here. Simran has proved to be very talented in many films, notably Vaali and Kannathil Muththamittaal.
About Jothika, I don’t want to make any comment, because they say, “If Jack is in love with Jill he shoudln’t be a judge of her.” :-))

Meenaks, I am trying to say, why do they try to woo someone who is already left the kollywood. Remember the way she made Pyramid guys run from pillar to post during the final touches of Udhaya.
I don’t underrate Simran. Just that she is over-rated a bit. However I agree she did a great job in Kannathil Muthamittal. Even in Pammal K Sambantham she did a good job. also do remember she had acted lot of useless stuff before that. VIP, Poochoodava, Nerukku Nerr were all lousy.
But why wouldn’t we give these new found talents sometime to prove themselves too.
