Wall-E – Robotics; Romantics

Andrew Stanton and Pixar just whizzed past every other animation house in Hollywood. Not only they made a blockbuster, they also made a heartfelt classic like E.T.

For the Hollywood, which has exhausted all romatic scripts of the world, here is the new age robot romance. One can be sure that Wall-E is going walk away with a bunch of Oscars.

With enough nods to Kubrick’s Space Odyssey and other such sci-fi films, Wall-E is a film to enjoyed in the big screen. If the first 30 poetic minutes aren’t interesting for you, do wait for the action filled second-half. And don’t miss to recognize the touch of Moondrampirai/Sadma at the fag-end.

Wall-E looked like he was built from Lego bricks. And Eve was simply looking like an iEgg. Kudos to the amazing soundtrack. A snippet from Thus Spake Zarathustra keeps repeating as a tribute to Space Odyssey.

And did they tell you, this is not some kids movie that Pixar usually creates. This is probably the best romantic movie of the year. So do flock the theatres with your BF/GF.

Here’s the hypebyte – This is the second best Pixar film after Finding Nemo. Or may be the first. You tell me.

Hey is this really lazy geek who posted this? Because I don’t remember Lazy making these many grammatical errors…

“Not only they made a blockbuster, they also made a heartfelt classic like E.T.”

    “For the Hollywood”

“And don’t miss to recognize “

No mistake in this sentence, when read in full. Perhaps the word “the” was redundant.

//For the Hollywood, which has exhausted all romatic scripts of the world, here is the new age robot romance.//

Well, the others are obviously wrong grammatically. But, why are you so keen on grammatically error – free blogs, I mean BLOGS.

    Hi,
I watched WALL E recently and felt that the movie fell flat on its nose after the wonderful first 30 minutes. I do agree that technically this is probably one up on many of the animated ventures of late, but as a movie it felt flat after WALL E reached space. Yes! I did notice the attempt to awaken the spirits of 2001 a space odyssey, but as a great Kubrick fan I was disappointed at the execution. The introduction of humans in the space ship made the rest of the plot very predictable and unenjoyable. All these flaws aside the movie had a great underlying message- ‘protect your environment’. The best part of the movie was that it did not attempt to preach but instead used clever visuals.

never knew we have editors blog-hopping too.

we wont get to watch wall-e till august! wtf! animation market is not strong here, so they’re trying to milk Wanted, Hancock and Batman first. and also Dasa. read in slashfilm that ppl are predicting Wall-e to hit top 10 of all time best movies.

Wall-E is an incredible film. My only regret is that I don’t have anyone special to watch it with me. I know, a little bit of cheese but it’s true. I sunk myself so deep into the romantic sequences that I’ve actually caught myself getting all misty eyed…and in front of a bunch of kids, lol. I agree with the Kubrick reference, well done.

To add to the Kubrick – 2001: A Space Odyssey reference, I noticed that the Blue Danube theme (which probably featured for a longer time than Thus Sprach Zarashthura in 2001) could be heard in Wall E when the captain of Axiom is introduced.

But seriously, Wall E was good, not as great as Ratatouille. Wait till Dreamworks SKG hits back.

Kundalakesi, Dreamworks SKG makes mediocre CGI movies at best. Nothing approaching the quality of Pixar’s films, which always push the boundaries of visuals and story. The best Dreamworks could come up with is maybe yet another wisecracking animal movie.

    @ Ravi K:

Forget it, it’s like Warner Bros. Looney Tunes vs Disney animated shorts fights of the 40s/50s. Or Rajini vs Kamal (this probably would spark Lazy’s attention). Or Spielberg vs Kubrick.

Neon, Apologize. I never edited this draft. And yeah, its a part of the blogosphere so noone bothers this, as you might already know !!

Kundakesi, You dont have to actually erfer to Kamal Rajini issue to gather my attention. But I still think you comparison of pixar and dreamworks holds good. Pixar is way ahead of dreamworks in terms of story telling. Agree ?

Personally, I feel story telling alone doesn’t contribute to “quality” movie, whatever that means. Agree?
