they took some decision and students could start preparing for the engineering entrance exams.
The Common Entrance Test for professional courses in Tamil Nadu for the coming academic year would be held on May 13 and 14.
Thinking about it, entrances exams for engineering colleges are not necessary at all. There are more engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu than the sum total of rest of the world. Even after one completes a ‘professional’ degree this is what they say –
Though the State boasts of a high literacy rate and an established higher education apparatus which can generate around 4,00,000 skilled manpower annually, around 40 per cent of graduates from the engineering pool and 70 per cent from the arts and science streams do not meet employability standards.
Badri has some thoughts in tamil.

some times people already have a fixed idea on what they want to read from a blog. what is actually in the blog matters very little to them.

ill state the blatantly obvious
kaarthikeyan – what that line means is that since # of seats is more than # of students..evereybody will get in without an entrance exam.

I think, thought not sure about this following fact. last year or the year before, there were around 56,000 engineering seats vacant.
hawkeye, can you verify it, sir 🙂

i joined BE some 12 years before (feel really old saying this). Even then, I remember there were some 10000 seats that werent even claimed. Unclaimed SC/ST seats in dote I was selling for lacs.
Now there are close to 300+ colleges in TN. The curious thing is – because of the recent events in SRM/Sathyabama/MGR colleges the pressure to take up Anna Univ affiliated seats will increase.
