Spielberg’s Munich – Trailer

Speilberg's Munich

After the tripods attacking mother earth, Steven Spielberg is all set with his next offering for Christmas. This time it’s an historical thriller based on dramatization of a real story. I only wish Mani Ratnam could bounce back as fast as Spielberg, after a movie.

Munich, starring ‘Troy’ fame Eric Bana, is named after the 1972 Olympics at Munich, which forms the crux of the story. As the Munich site explains, it is a gripping suspense thriller set in the aftermath of the massacre of 11 Israeli athletes at the 1972 Munich Olympics. The whole movie production and the news about the movie were kept under covers , until the official trailer was released, few days back.

Don’t miss to watch the trailer. The trailer sets high expectations for the movie especially John William’s background score stands out. Can’t actually wait to see the movie. For now all eyes and ears set to Dec 23rd.

Liam Neeson and Spielberg are coming together again for a film on Abe Lincoln? I saw the news somewhere, dunno if it’s a rumour or not. And Spielberg buying the rights to make a Tin Tin film too.

Well, Dec 23 release is a sure shot way for getting nominated for Oscars. And going by the premise of the movie, it is yet another pro-Jew movie that is sure to get an award! Damn the academy!

I hope the movie is atleast entertaining, unlike the tripod disaster.

    Krithika,

You are absolutely right.Spielberg’s movie on Abraham Lincoln(Liam Neeson on screen)is in its pre-production stage and its still untitled.

As for Tintin,Spielberg bought the rights for the comic book series in 1983.But,he was unable to make his dream come true for a decade and his option on the property expired. He re-acquired the rights a few years ago.According to themovieinsider.com,the first movie is “Red Rackham’s Treasure” starring Gregory Smith.

    Hi Guru
Saw this trailer some 3 or 4 days ago. Looks promising. However, I have to inform you on the score. That is not Original John William’s work. That score is ripped off “The New World”, a film by Terrance Mallick. As with War of the Worlds, the score for the trailer is not the score in the movie. So I think your expectations can come down.

John Williams has been a waste for a while now, especially with Catch Me… and Terminal. Catch Me was pretty much a copy of 1960’s music, terminal – generic sappy music. WOW… generic pounding music to generate fear.

A.I. and Minority Report were good as far as score’s are concerned.

You dont like ‘Catch Me if you can’ BGM? IMHO It was just fantastic!! The sax signature piece was ultimate…!
As a story set in 60s you would expect a 60s score dont you?

Venkat, I saw Parineeta recently and the BGM seems to have highly looted from Iruvar and Hey Ram so can I say Parineeta’s MD just copied the BGMs.

If they want to set a historical backdrop, usually art and music should be authentic. hence you might get a feel of them being copied but it depends on the MD’s talent to bring those times.

And I’ve been a huge fan of John Williams since ET times and I think he is one of the best film music directors. Spielberg cant afford to miss him and yes as ram said, Catch me if you can was classy. donno why you disliked it.

    Ram, Guru
Each to his own, Catch Me’s music embraced a lot of the fun and memorable aspects of the film and story, yet it did not convey the serious undertones to the film.

John Williams has been good, i’m not going to say otherwise. I enjoy some of his work too, but I think he has been to sappy and generic of late. SW EP 3 was a rehash of Minority Report, WOW was a rehash of Jurassic in many ways.

John Williams as far as im concerned is memorable in trademark ways – but affecting, hardly.

    Lazy,

As much as I’d like to see MR bounce back like Speilberg, I think it’d be a bit unfair to compare the two. MR would usually build a film from A to Z whereas Speilberg would be handed bound scripts to choose from before filming! I wonder if that level of professionalism would come to our film industry.

    Anyway, can’t wait for Munich.

Gp, its anybody’s guess why the Malaysian govt. wouldn’t want the film to be seen by their people!! It has that taboo word – Isarel!!! Hmm…Its sad though…

True Sunil, its the magic word Israel. But want not, ill get the bootleg dvd is it doesnt come to my shores.

I think the difference or problem with Indian directors are theyre trying hard to do so many things when making a movie, whereas good western/ foreign directors just Direct and leave the screenplay, script, story to somebody else. Ofcourse again, western directors dont make 30 day movies, they plan for years sometimes.

DNA doesn’t have to get too upset about “Munich” – just leave happy, right after the terrorists have murdered all the athletes.

This type of hatred on the part of DNA is just proof of the level of their ignorance. I don’t know D’s story, but here’s a little of mine. My “Jew” Grandmother was buried alive (to save bullets) by the Germans. My father was spared by some miracle, and served heroically in Britain’s Royal Air Force. The other side of the family was part of the hundreds of thousands of Jews who had their homes taken from them by Syria, Iraq, Egypt and other Arab dictatorships.

Here’s the story for you, DNA. There is a 60 year old Jewish phrase – “Never Again!” It’s a code of conduct that varies with the circumstances a Jew finds themselves in.

Never again will Jews not defend themselves.
Never again will they allow terrorists to treat Jews the way the Arabs murder the Muslims of Darfour and enslave the Mauritanians.
Never again will Jews believe the propaganda that terrorists have no other choice, when the world has as proof the return of Egyptian territory in exchange for peace.
Never again will I allow someone like DNA to toss out offensive phrases without a response.

Finally, I’d like to set the record straight on “Pro-Jew” movies and the Academy Awards:

    2004 – No Jews
“MILLION DOLLAR BABY,” “The Aviator,” “Finding Neverland,” “Ray,” “Sideways”

2003 – Another good year for DNA
“THE LORD OF THE RINGS, THE RETURN OF THE KING,” “Lost In Translation,” “Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World,” “Mystic River,” “Seabiscuit”

2002 DNA should look at it a different way – One Jew may have survived, but all the rest didn’t.
“CHICAGO,” “Gangs of New York,” “The Hours,” “The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers,” “The Pianist”

2001 – Odd accents, but no Yiddish.
“A BEAUTIFUL MIND,” “Gosford Park,” “In the Bedroom,” “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring,” “Moulin Rouge”

2000 – Sorry, but Brockovich is a Catholic name.
“GLADIATOR,” “Chocolat,” “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” “Erin Brockovich,” “Traffic”

1999 – DNA has another peaceful year at the movies.
“AMERICAN BEAUTY”, “The Cider House Rules”, “The Green Mile”, “The Insider”, “The Sixth Sense”

    1998 – If a death camp movie is “Pro-Jew”… (D – see suggestion for 2002)
SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE, “Elizabeth”, “Life is Beautiful” (Best Foreign Language Film winner), “Saving Private Ryan”, “The Thin Red Line”

    1997 – Jew-Free
“TITANIC”, “L.A. Confidential”, “As Good As It Gets”, “Good Will Hunting”, “The Full Monty”

1996 – One for DNA – German Spy in WW2 wins academy award. Does that factor out a Pro-Jew movie?
“THE ENGLISH PATIENT”, “Fargo”, “Jerry Maguire”, “Secrets and Lies”, “Shine”

1995 – Second for DNA – another like-thinking Jew Hater wins for best picture.
“BRAVEHEART”, “Apollo 13”, “Babe”, “Il Postino”, “Sense and Sensibility”
