Just like it’s predecessor, the Indian version of American Idol, obviously called as Indian Idol should be gripping. Having witnessed first season of American Idol closely in the US, I would have preferred to change the format a lil bit to suit the viewers of the peninsula. This one looks like Munnabhai MBBS dubbed into all 4 languages. There aren’t many changes to the format and presentation.
The Indian Idol is being broadcasted from 9 pm every evening in the Sony TV. Chennai viewers without CAS are the ones who are fortunate/unfortunate enough to not view it. They are still on the prelims so live auditions haven’t started yet and I am not sure if they are bringing in the vote-over-phone feature in this version.
The judges. Sonu Nigam, Anu Malik and Farah Khan. We know that Sonu Nigam has a mesmerizing voice, his new found hair style makes him look like Zhakir Hussain. He takes on the Randy Jackson image of American Idol. Our famous(!) Anu Malik takes on the bad boy Simon Cowell‘s image. Anu Malik sticks his neck out in rejections. In acceptances, it’s Sonu. I am able to mark this pattern clearly.
The disaster, per me, comes as Farah Khan. She plays the similar role of Paula Abdul. While I love Farah as a choerographer and even as a director, she may not fit in here. They could have went with the likes of Sadana Sargam or Alka Yagnik. I did watch Farah’s Main Hoon Na and was impressed by the commercial movie she was able to put together. Again, Main Hoon Na was a collage of Matrix and other stunt stuff but was fairly commendable by a debutant director. Here in Indian Idol, she’s not even being authoritative as Paula. She is just nodding heads to the opinions of Sonu Nigam and Anu Malik. Probably a bit xenophobic among the musicians.
With all such trivial issues, Indian Idol seems to have got the frenzy of the audience. I know people who watch even the repeat telecasts of the same show. In a country with so much population, I am sure there is tough competition ahead. Good Luck to those dudes!!.

I was so much shocked for showing that Mr. Harish Mayal has been left from the Top ten. I think his performance was not bad during this episode. And he shold get a chance to the next stage.
However, I hope he will prove himself in future.
He is my favourite idol.And in the other side Mr. Rabindra Ravi’s performance was now well. Being a normal public I am not satisfied with the public opinion. They have voted the maximum percentage in favour of Mr. Rabindra Ravi. I think the right person should get the chance for performance.

The sms voting system in ‘Indian Idol’ is totally wrong.All the candidates are deserving.So,the best way to select the “Indian idol” is to make the judges decide who is really the best based on their “sur” and nothing else.
For the past two weeks,Iam shocked to see Prajakta ending up in the bottom three.I think the public should “THINK” before they vote.voting can be a fun but please think about the singers.

I don’t know why judges select him in the first round to make him reach upto this level. He is really a very big threat to all the remaining singers who are much more talented than him. If he is not voted out soon he has full chances of becoming Indian Idol. I cant imagine even in my dreams that Ravinder Ravi (who is such a besura) singer becoming first Indian Idol after beating such talented singers. Who is going to buy the CD of songs sung by Ravinder Ravi. I request the Indian population to think from their minds instead of their heart before voting for him. I think the judges now should be given enough powers to select the deserving Indian Idol or else get ready to see Ravinder Ravi turning out to be Indian Idol.

well i only want to suggest one thing tht if the voting procedure is shown then it would make a positive diffrence like, a counting machine on the screen at the extreme left of all the participnts and their total etc…
well Prajakta is one of the person whom i think i know her as her voice and her eyes gives that glimpse.i feel that she is one who is very near to me.i dont know if anytime i will meet her.but i will be always with thy.

plzzzzzz read my mail.i am one of your biggest fans .don’t worry cause you have been eliminated because the people who voted you out know absolutely nothing about music.they are ignorant of sur and taal.sony shouldn’t have allowed these ignorant fools to take such an important decision.i at least know something about music cause i have passed my 1st ,2nd , and 3rd year in classical music with distinction from prayag sangeet samiti.i know you were the best among all of them and you really deserved to be the indian idol.but will these foolish people called indians understand .they say you are proud and have an attitude problem and can’t sing.i would like to say something.whether you have an attitude problem is none of our business cause nowhere is it stated that the best human being will become the indian idol.they don’t know you in person then how can they say you are proud and even if you are proud so what?lord byron was proud ,but did we reject his poetry because of that.on the day of your performance i found both amit and abhijeet became besura sometime or the other while you were never and you also did not get a single negetive comment from the judges that day.but these people will never understand .whenever someone says you can’t sing i become sure that they are completely ignorant as to what music is.farah khan should also have given you a chance along with rahul saxena to sing in her movie.but don’t worry .you’ll get plenty of offers and remember will young became the pop idol gareth gates became the runners up but nowadays gareth gates is much more sucessful than him .never loose hope .you will always be my idol.plzzzzzzz reply if you read this mail.my address is raka _sen @hotmail.com.

its very sad that rahul is out! he sooooo deserved to be in the final. it won’t be the same without him!
but he’s still young. and this is NOT the ultimate music platform. they’re looking for a ‘different’ and ‘new’ singer and not essentially the ‘best’ one which rahul no doubt, is! thats where he falls short. he is something we’ve all heard before in many talented playback singers of the past! so idol is not the right platform where he’ll come out victorious.
but i’m sure he’ll be the most successful singer among everyone on idol. thats definite!!! coz he’s the most talented.
the package however is abhijeet for sure!!! he’s goodlooking, original, a nice guy!!! has all the elements. and boy can he sing!!! he stirs your soul. ‘tum mile’ was an awesome performance!
so he’s my favorite but if rahul is reading this , i wish him all the best because he’s the one who’s gonna be the most successful in future!
since he’s seen setback at such a young age, he’ll grow mentally stronger and zoom up beyond everybody. he hould also remember abhijeet’s comment about him when he said rahul deserved it more. that’ll boost him as well.

Hey what happened Rahul has been voted out why dear fans why have not u all voted for him I wanted to vote him million times but I live in Bangladesh so I cant, my whole family & friends love him I didnt have the courage to see him on the bottom 2 & yesterday…..i cried whole night & still crying. I think both amit & abhijeet r gud in their own way. Amit has a more sharper and distinctive tone than abhijeet, but abhijeet has a more flexible tone good as well. I dont bother if any1 of them bcomes indian idol.

This is for all those who say that abhijeet can sing only soft songs…
I somewhat agree with you on that but at the same time i really doubt whether SANA can sing
soft-songs ???
I believe Abhijeet can atleast do better at those high-pitched songs as compared to what Sana can
do if he tries to sing those soft-songs.

Hey, i think it will be better if the final is held this way:
Sana can be asked to select 1 song of his choice & abhijeet can also be asked to select another
song of his choice.
Now both have to sing these two songs….
This can really tell who is good as most probably Abhijeet will select a soft-voiced song which
Amit has to sing as well and Amit will select a song which suits him which Abhijeet has to sing
as well…

i think sana is the best!!!!!!!he reminds me of jassi who isnt good looking but has a golden heart.his humbleness shows when he sings.abhijeet is good too but sana is my choice.i agree that looks are not everything and your inner abilities and strength come and show in your singing.you have transformed yourself so well.when you cam in thsi show,you were all hunchy etc,you have worked a lot on your appearance too.i am going to give you maximum notes.

I think the best man should win – and that clearly is Amit Sana. Even if we were to say that Abhijeet and he sing equally well, and were only to base our votes on their personalities, Amit deserves to win. I cannot believe that Abhijeet needs to resort to urging people to vote for him by publishing self-promoting features in newspapers like Mid-Day.
People are going to be voting for Abhijeet for all the wrong reasons; and not just because of what I’ve mentioned above, but also because he tactfully said in the last episode that he felt Vaidya was more deserving of being in the final two than he. Hell not only be harnessing thousands of sympathy votes, but also will be being supported by one of the biggest state populations in India, that of Maharashtra, also his home state. Do you want the wrong contestant to be chosen as your Indian Idol because of all the wrong reasons? No. Hence I say, VOTE FOR AMIT SANA, because that way, for every one vote Abhijeet recieves out of sympathy, Amit can recieve two for his sheer talent; because that way justice will be done not just to Amit Sana, but to the judges, to the show and more importantly to our country.
The best singers are not copycat singers, but those who have an original voice of their own, take for example – Kishore Kumar, Udit Narayan, Sonu Nigam and the more contemporary Sukhwinder Singh even. When they came into the industry they were appreciated because they had voices that were unlike anybody else’s before them. A voice like Abhijeet’s is one that people have heard a million times before and will continue to hear for years to come. Amit Sana has the golden voicebox here – his voice is distinct, unique and has its own character.
Both contestants are really good, but if you dont want Amit Sana to leave disappointed, if you dont want to be disappointed, then make sure you make an active effort to keep him in. Make sure you VOTE AMIT SANA.

By the way, I read online that in the last episode, Abhijeet’s friend put in 190 something votes for him and in tomorrow’s finale, he plans on sending in 250 votes.
I just wanted to say to all the Amit Sana fans that we should not get left behind.
Tomorrow, we are getting the biggest opportunity to show Amit Sana how much we love and support him and I hope that each one of you will seize this with both hands and send in more votes for him than you ever have.

I really like sana above abhijeet for the following reasons:
1. His voice quality is very good and inspiring(which is a must for indian idol).
2. He has a lot of energy (which is somewhat absent in abhijeet).
3. He is very honest ans straightforward.
4. The way he dances, i really feel like dancing with him.
5. He has mainained consistently good performances in all the gala rounds.
Whereas abhijeet is not as straight guy as he seems:
He said that rahul vaidya deserved to be in finals in place of himself just to get the votes of the heart-broken vaidya-fans for the next gala. So vaidya fans, DO NOT FALL FOR IT!!
Further abhijeet has only started to perform well in only the last few gala’s and lacks the consistency.

i just dont know why amit sana fans are becoming too much insecured!!..no doubt that sana is a great singer…so is abhijeet..if sana fans claim that abhi will get lots of sympathy votes then abhi fans will claim that sana got lots of sympathy votes for his voice problems in the last two rounds…if abhi’s friend sent 150 votes for abhi, how can anyone say that any of amit’s friend is not doing the same??it should be kept in mind that one friend’s votes will not be enough to make any one “the idol”..dont forget that the contestants get more than 30 laks votes every week from all over the country..
what is good that two deserving contestants are participating in the final gala round..both have their own style and originality..so its not fair to compare their talent.
we all want good performances from both of them and finally the title should go to the person who performs better in the final.

Why is it that so many Bangladeshi,Singaporean ppl r just tellin us 2 vote for sana. I think they can also vote through phone (ISD) by prefixing 91 before 190 2424 2525 01. Iam also a SANA fan but i think it’ll be better if u also contribute somehow rather than just blogging on this website (priyam & co).

hey, i do agree bout Abhi having the looks, personality and the voice but u cant disagree that Sana has got the style, the variation ,the voice and the confidence needed to become the Indian Idol.
I personally think he completes the image of a sweet, conservative, middle – class indian boy capable of handling and becoming the our Indian Idol .so pleez guys dont forget to vote for Sana .

Q: How do you feel now that you have so many female fans?
Abhijeet: It is really odd. Before I had to work so hard to impress the girls but now the tables have turned.
Amit: So far I have never been given much importance by the girls. Now with all this success I feel that if I approached a girl I may get a positive response. But I do not want to get into all that and get distracted form my goal. After all it does not take very long to loose everything that one has achieved.
Q: Do you like Aman and Mini, particularly how they announce the results?
Abhijeet: They are very nice and they have become good friends. When they announce the results I try very hard to read their expressions. In the last round I had caught Amans eye and he and quickly looked away. That moment I thought that I was out but actually it was just the opposite results. Their pauses are deadly. During that time I think of all my past performance and pray.
Amit: I really like them a lot. They have become friends and are very encouraging. But in the result rounds they have this dead pan expression and that can be very scary.
Q: Which has been your favourite theme round so far?
Abhijeet: The round with patriotic songs.
Amit: The Indi Pop Round
Q: The song you have loved singing the most?
Abhijeet: Kar chale hum fida
Amit: Marhaba Marhaba in the Best of 2004 round.
Q: When do you plan to get married?
Abhijeet: In two or three years
Amit: I am just 21 so not for another 5 or 6 years
Q: What is the girl of your dreams like?
Abhijeet: She must understand me and get along with my parents and respect them.
Amit: I want someone who is very caring and gentle. Of course I am ok if she is also very focused on her career.
Q: Among all the stars you have met so far whom have you liked the best?
Abhijeet: Sanjay Leela Bhansali
Amit: Preity Zinta. She is so down to earth. She came across as genuine and without airs.
Q: Which comment by any jury member do you hold most dear?
Abhijeet: When Farah said that hearing me sing had brought tears to her eyes in the patriotic song round.
Amit: When Sonu told me on singing Marhaba Marhaba that he could not decide who had sung the song better him or me.
Q: What will you do with all the money if you become the Indian Idol?
Abhijeet: I am going to save it. When the contract with Sony will end it will be back to reality and I will need the money then.
Amit: I will need two days in a locked room to figure it out. I still cannot think what I will do. But small things I will do are like taking guitar lessons and joining a gym.

I think leaving the decision completely on votes is a bit too risky. Sure it can be included; but hey, then it doesn’t become Indian Idol — we’d call it Anu-Sonu-Farha’s idol 🙂

Indian Idol is not about someone presentable to external world. Indian Idol is someone who should be an Idol for all the indians.

a few days ago it was on the newspapers that rahul vaidya was dropped becoz of betting .amit sana was actually the person with the least votes.rahul has already signed a contract of 20 lacks with sony.so i would like to say don’t go by somebody’s looks or attitude.go by their voice.rahul was really thebest singers and all the songs chosen by him were very difficult except for yeh jawani and suraj huya madhyam.don’t compare sana with jassi .he is not that ugly as you people had made him
